Jonny Ambrose MA

My sculptures capture a lifelong passion for automobiles, aerodynamic shapes and airflow.

Since graduating in Fine Art 1994, my artworks have been exhibited worldwide at prestigious events and galleries.

After studying a Masters Degree, a computer games career gradually took over from 1998 – 2015. I co-founded a successful development studio, and helped create critically acclaimed games in the ‘Guitar Hero’ series.

Yearning to make tactile hand-crafted 3D forms again, I returned full time to focus on creating elegant, sculptural works of art.

Creative Craftsmanship, Elegantly Engineered

I combine traditional craftsmanship with digital design and manufacture.

Processes range from steam-bending wood at my workshop, to computer controlled manufacturing and additive printing.

Steamed hardwood are individually shaped, bent and twisted by me to create complex flowing forms.

Digital design allows me to create precision surfaces or intricate forms, impossible to achieve by hand.

My Inspiration

Themes that inspire my work include aerodynamic forms, wood grain, organic shapes, patterns, racecar graphics, roads, contours, maps and blueprints.

Unique Commissions

Every client’s artwork is a creative collaboration with me – your requirements are key.

An idea is nurtured, researched, designed then brought to life in my countryside workshop studio to create beautiful and alluring sculptures. I design concepts and produce images for your feedback throughout the design process, before the final artwork is agreed.

Each artwork is carefully constructed and finished in my workshop studio.

Some designs involve using my trusted technical partners: specialists in engineering practices that are beyond the scope of my wood workshop.

The result is a beautiful work of art for you to cherish. Reward your passion… commission your own unique sculpture today.

Material Sources

All timber is FSC certified, and sourced from well respected local timber yards or sustainable managed woodlands in England.

Sometimes, I source quality timber that are deemed ‘off cuts’ at respected woodyards, and therefore I re- purpose materials that could go to waste.

The less sustainable materials used in my sculptures are minimised where possible.

I donate to tree planting charities to help balance out my work’s consumption of materials.
